What Inspires You to Serve?

Our friends weigh in often on our Facebook page with comments, opinions, and all kinds of interesting observations.

The latest fill-in-the-blank status update is: “I'm inspired to volunteer by ____________”

Not surprisingly, the comments run the gamut from personal heroes to organizations. Here's a sample of what folks had to say about what inspires them to volunteer:

  • Love for others
  • Compassion
  • My mom
  • Occupy Sandy Relief NYC
  • United Way
  • Helping Eielson Air Force Base and serving with a cheerful spirit!
  • FLOTUS (That's First Lady Michelle Obama, for those not versed in acronym speak.)
  • Sargent and Eunice Kennedy Shriver (and Maria!)
  • Our students!

There are lots of reasons Americans volunteer their free time or participate in national service.

What inspires you? Visit our Facebook page and join the discussion.
