On Monday January 17th 2011 hundreds of thousands of Americans participated in service projects across the country. From painting schools to serving meals to writing letters to troops, these dedicated volunteers made a positive difference in their communities.
But why stop there?
In order to encourage ongoing service throughout the year, we have launched the MLK 25 Challenge – a call to all Americans to honor Dr. King by pledging to take at least 25 actions during 2011 to make a difference for others and strengthen our communities.
These actions can be anything – from simply shoveling the snow off your neighbor’s driveway to a long-term commitment such as teaching adult literacy classes. There is no shortage of work to be done, or lack of ways to get involved.
Select 25 that appeal to you or challenge yourself to venture outside your comfort zone and try something new.
The MLK 25 Challenge is about making a difference, but its also fun and a great way to connect with other service-minded individuals.
