Set Concrete Goals
Setting goals helps you be accountable to yourself and also increases accountability within a group. Clear goals at the beginning of a project will also help you determine how your project will work and what role group members can play. Once goals are set, you can track your progress, compare your results with other group members, and figure out what works best so everyone can meet (or exceed) their goals.
Set a service goal and hold yourself accountable. Commit as an individual and as a team to volunteer a certain number of hours this year. Then keep your commitment. Let’s see what we can do together!
Here are some impact-based goals you could set for yourself or with your team this year. Set a goal, keep track, and let the group know how you are progressing to goal:
- We will walk ______ minutes a day.
- We will walk ______ days a week.
- We will walk ______ steps a day.
- We will increase our steps walked per day by ______ percent.
Part of setting good outcome goals is thinking about how you will achieve them. As a group or an individual, think about process-based goals as well to map out how you will hit your goals above:
- We will start walking on ______ (date).
- As a team, we will recruit ______ walkers to join us.
- As an individual, I will recruit ______ people to join me.
