Create and Register Your MLK Day of Service Project

Creating Your MLK Day of Service Project

Creating your project is easy and we have plenty of resources for everyone – whether this is your first service project, or you are a seasoned pro, we can help. As you start planning, please check out our toolkits – they show you how you can turn an idea into a successful project.  We have toolkits that fit our targeted issue areas (Health, Education, etc.) or a toolkit for connecting your service project to a general idea.  Or, for King-specific resources and overall project management, visit our King Day toolkit.

Registering Your MLK Day of Service Project

Now all you need to do is register your project and invite your friends. Simply register your event with one of our partner sites listed below. These organizations have integrated their listings into All for Good - so your opportunity will then appear through Serve.gov as well:

(For more information on registering a project with All for Good, please click here.)

Additional Registration Instructions

When you create your project, please make sure to follow these instructions and use one of the keywords below – we want to make sure your event is highlighted on MLK Day:

  • MLK
  • Martin Luther King

A few more suggestions:

  • Incorporate broad, descriptive words and phrases that people would be likely to search, such as “Donate Food at a Local Food Bank on MLK Day.”
  • Give an accurate and descriptive explanation of the project or opportunity.
  • Remember, this is your chance to capture the attention of potential volunteers. Use relevant keywords and explain what your organization does and what role volunteers would play. Also, use some more keywords.
  • Be specific about the dates of the project, as All for Good will be focusing on projects occurring between January 11th and January 23rd for the MLK Day of Service.
