Sierra Club Cool Cities Program

by Colleen S.

This summer, Sierra Club’s Cool Cities program launched its Home Energy Ambassador Training program in partnership with United We Serve.

Volunteers in more than 35 states have been trained to take common sense and low cost energy efficiency ideas into their community to spread the word about lowering energy bills and carbon footprints.

Whether they are hosting a party for neighbors or offering a presentation at their place of worship, these Ambassadors will teach people how to take the first step in making their homes more efficient. During United We Serve Energy Week, we were fortunate to have Johanna Zetterberg, with the Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, join our Home Energy Ambassador Call. Ms. Zetterberg made the connection between national action on energy efficiency to the work these men and women will do in their communities.

The Home Energy Ambassador program is an ongoing program, and Cool Cities will continue to develop these local energy experts.
