Nothing But Nets

by Danielle G.

On Tuesday, June 23rd, Nothing But Nets joined the FBR Branch of the local Boys & Girls Clubs in Anacostia to engage the youth on the issue of malaria. 125 students ages five through 15 joined us in fun and interactive activities such as skits, creative drawing, and a NETS basketball game which served to both educate and empower the students to take action on a global issue.

Washington Wizards mascot G-Wiz joined us for our nets game and his antics only added to the fun. Nothing But Nets Director Adrianna Logalbo congratulated the youth on their past dedication to service and encouraged them to reengage on this potentially new topic of malaria.

The Nothing But Nets campaign spent a week in Washington, DC hosting many fun and educational events which celebrated our newest and often most creative champions of the campaign, youth. The idea that a $10 bed net can provide a family with protection from a life-threatening disease, malaria, seems to resonate well with young people.
