The Corporation for National and Community Service along with partners My Good Deed .Org, The Hands On Network and The 9/11 Memorial will lead the observance of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. As part of the United We Serve initiative, we hope to engage Americans across the nation in committing themselves to serve by engaging in a service project or getting involved in a cause as a way to pay tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11. This is also an excellent way to rekindle the remarkable spirit of unity and compassion that arose following the attacks.

The Corporation for National and Community Service will be supporting service activities in six affected cities and highlighting events nationwide. With the combined efforts of non-profit organizations, non-traditional service partners, businesses, and federal agencies, we are working together to reignite the spirit of unity and service that inspired Americans in the days after the September 11th tragedy in 2001.

You can participate in hundreds of volunteer service projects being organized throughout the country in honor September 11, 2010. Projects will mobilize thousands of volunteers through organized service activities in honor and remembrance of 9/11 victims. Finding a project is easy - please visit here to search for a project by keyword or by using your city and state or zipcode. You don't need a project to be a part of this day. Finding a way to address a need or give back to your community to honor the spirit of 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

  • A new innovative website was launched by MyGoodDeed to sign up nonprofits, faith-based organizations and employers. The goal of the is to enroll as many as 100,000 organizations between now and the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and connect individuals to volunteer opportunities.

A first-ever comprehensive 9/11 education resource that includes 18 different lesson plans and supporting elements to help teachers instruct students in age appropriate and constructive ways on the events of 9/11, and inspire them to pay tribute on a voluntary basis through charitable service and good deeds are available online at no cost .

Television and radio public service announcements, featuring actors Gary Sinise and Denis Leary, can be viewed nationwide this year for the first time thanks to the support of the National Association of Broadcasters, Clear Channel, many of the major networks, and cable channels.
