9/11 and Beyond

by United We Serve Team

The Corporation for National and Community Service, in partnership with My Good Deed, Scholastic, and the Points of Light Institute are announcing the release of comprehensive education resources related to 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance to teachers and mentors. These tools will help educators and youth leaders provide constructive lessons on 9/11 and inspire their students to engage in community and volunteer service in observance of 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance each year.

Help inspire your students to support this year's 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Utilize the new lesson plans to will help students reflect on 9/11 in a constructive way, inspiring them to “adopt causes” and take positive action through other community service projects and good deeds.

With the guidance of educators, these official 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance materials will help children learn valuable, heartfelt and constructive lessons about the 9/11 experience and the ways in which they can serve their community. We hope that through instruction, students will gain renewed appreciation for the diverse communities in which they live; cultivate a deeper understanding of those who may be different from them; and develop a greater sense of service and compassion in their daily lives. Let's make sure 9/11 doesn't end up being just another day.
